A new guitar…

Guitar

I’ve recently gotten the itch to get a new guitar. Here’s the one I’m looking at:

Schecter C-1 Elite

I like the black one, it’s got nice mother-of-pearl inlays all down the fretboard, and all around the body of the guitar. It also has 24 “jumbo” frets, which is pretty sweet. I’ve only ever had guitars with 22 frets, so the extra 2 frets will surely make me a rockstar, probably overnight. It’s also got a very nice neck-to-body connection. Normally guitars have either a bolt-on neck, or a glue-on neck that does not allow very easy access to the higher frets, but the C-1 has a nice seamless, molded connection from the neck to the body, which is pretty impressive for a mid-priced guitar. The only downside is that it comes with some cheapo Japanese-made “Duncan Designed” pickups, instead of the “real” Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz setup on the C-1 Classic model. I have considered getting the Classic model for that reason, but it has this gaudy vine inlay going all the way up the fretboard, which is a bit much, and the gold hardware is a little pompous too. I’d feel like I’d have to restrict myself to neo-classical heavy metal (not that I could pull that off) or elevator jazz (not that I could pull that off either) if I got that guitar.  It would be even better if the C-1 elite had EMG pickups.  Schecter actually has a C-1 “Hellraiser” model with EMGs, but I’m just not sure I want to portray the image of “hellraiser” – I’m just not much of a hellraiser myself.  Overall, I figure I can replace any of the hardware if I wanted to, but it’s definitely not as easy to change the finish or any cosmetic feature of a guitar, so I’ll probably get the black Elite one I liked…
